First Conference #dreamteam
Have you ever wanted to meet a group of like minded professionals? Do you need career coaching and direction? Interested in Business or Technology? Are you a college sophomore, African American, Latinx, or Native American? Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) may be the right choice for you!
What is MLT?
Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) career prep program is designed to help college students gain career-accelerating skills not taught in classrooms, cultivate personal clarity, and connect with top employers for potential internships and full-time roles. During this 18-month long program you will be exposed to one-on-one coaching, and an accelerating network of 8,000 MLT Rising Leaders. Likewise, you gain a whole experience that is life changing.
Why Join MLT?
As someone who did not know what they wanted to do with their life, I knew I needed help. I needed more career guidance and more exposure to the business industry. Luckily, when I found out about this program, I applied and got accepted. The best thing about MLT was the network and family you gain. I remember the first time we had our conference, I was terrified because I was not sure what to expect. However, I met college students from Harvard, Howard, Baruch, University of Georgia, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, Georgia State, and so many more. Everyone in the program is constantly rooting for your success. Also, you gain exposure to various companies like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Deloitte, Adobe, Abbott, Amazon, Colgate, Intuit, Nike, P&G, Salesforce, Target and so many more. I am not sure about you, but half of those companies were not recruiting at my university.
Work
You will be assigned monthly assignments and it's important to take them seriously. They are only created to help you. Be honest with your coach during check ins. Do you need help with interviews? Do you need your resume looked over? Believe me, my career coach edited my resume a lot. Know that you will face failure because there will be times where the companies reject you. Take it from me, I have had almost too many rejections where I almost felt like giving up. My advice is to continue to maintain the relationship you had with that recruiter. Sometimes trying again the next year may work in your favor. That recruiter may end up knowing a better opportunity for you.
Network
Like I mentioned, you will gain the best network from MLT. There are so many MLT Alum that have great jobs lined up and if you established a relationship with them, it's possible they can help you land an internship or a full time role. Sometimes scheduling coffee chats with people you meet can be wise. Pick their mind, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions. The one thing you will gain from MLT is how to network. Whether you are shy or outgoing, you will learn how to reach out to folks. The MLT community strives to see everyone win. I was struggling to find work during this pandemic, but reached out to a contact I met through MLT, and that one email helped me land my full time role. You never know how one conversation can change your life.
Now, are you still unsure? Or, are you hitting that apply button? Join MLT, you won't regret it!
